Task 1 (30 marks) - Job Description and Tailored CV

Assingment Introduction:

The combination of the ongoing COVID-19-related global recession and increased automation in the future of work has led to a large-scale disruption of the jobs and skills landscape.

While previous generations of talent could expect linear career progression and engagement in formal learning that decreases over time, the workforce of the future will be required to rapidly learn and relearn new skills as reskilling, upskilling and redeployment define the ‘new normal’ in the future of work” World Economic Forum.

This assignment assesses the student's understanding of factors impacting the labour market and the skills and experience needed for a sustainable graduate career.

Task 1 (30 marks):

You will submit one document that includes a Job Description for your preferred graduate job and a CV tailored to the role you have chosen (The CV must be a maximum 1,000 words on two sides of A4 – excluding the Job Description) This will be uploaded through the Turnitin link on the VLE page for this module.

Task 2 (70 marks):

You will attend a 5-minute live interview on Zoom, answering the following questions which refer to the preferred job role you have identified and submitted with your CV:

• State the sector you wish to work in and why you have chosen it. What changes do you expect to see in this sector in the next 5 years? (3 minutes)

• You should demonstrate your understanding of factors impacting on the sector and use labour market information to anticipate possible future challenges and opportunities.

• Your choice of sector should also relate to your values. b. What skills and experience will you need to develop now and, in the future, to equip yourself for success in your chosen role? (2 minutes)

• You are expected to refer to a career management model or theory to support your choice of at least three personal development activities.

Assessment criteria:

• Knowledge and understanding of factors influencing the sustainability of the labour market, and the impact on future employability needs.

• Knowledge and understanding of the concept of Global Citizenship and career management principles, applied to selecting a graduate role.

• Appropriate presentation and dress for an interview.

• Ability to demonstrate clear communication and confident verbal delivery skills in an interview.

• Ability to produce a professional CV tailored to a specific role.

Point to Consider In your interview you should consider the following:

• Justification of your choice of sector in relation to labour market reports and sustainability.

• Application of a relevant career management model or theory (such as, but not limited to, The I Brand model, CareerEDGE theory, the Career Learning and Development Bridge model) to identify future personal development and learning.

• You must use Career Zone resources, including Interview 360, in your preparation.

• Clarity of expression and confident presentation skills. In creating your CV, you should consider the following:

• Suitability of your chosen role with reference to values, transferrable skills, experience, aspirations and the principles of Global Citizenship.

• Professional formatting and expression.

• You must use Career Zone resources including CV Builder and CV360 in your preparation.

• Citations and references relating to both tasks should be attached to the CV and are not included in the word count.
