Student Information Tracking System for Newham College

Background

The first chapter of the report is commonly an introduction, which gives an account of the work to be done and the context in which it is to be done, usually providing background information (referenced) justifying the need for the work you have done. This should also include a clear statement of aims and objectives (refer to project proposal in appendix) and the methods used in carrying out the work involved in each stage of the project.

The outcome of this project is to allow staff members of the admissions department Newham College to access student’s information, to learn a student’s whereabouts within the college as well to analyse learner’s attendance. The system will impact the college on a large scale as they are able to keep track of the learners as well boosting the attendance records due to raising awareness of truancy and being able to manage the location of the students, benefits of the system is that it can help build a reputation for the college such as achieving a great rating from Ofsted, on the other hand it also helps business wise by boosting numbers which results in more government funding, therefore the system will both a great business and educational asset to Newham College The system will allow admission team to keep track of learners attendance based on months and percentages; also it will displays graphs from previous months that have passed so that the information can be compared.

SDLC is essential for developing a software system for several reasons. It serves as a foundation for project planning, scheduling, and estimating. SDLC establishes a framework for a consistent set of activities and deliverables. It is a project tracking and control mechanism. It also raises the visibility of project planning to all stakeholders involved in the development process. Increased and accelerated development. Client relationships have improved. It also assists you in lowering project risk and project management plan overhead.

Various software development life cycle models have been defined and designed, and they are used during the software development process. These are also known as "Software Development Process Models." To ensure success in the software development process, each process model follows a set of steps that are unique to its type. The waterfall model, iterative model, spiral model, v-model, and big bang model are the most important and popular SDLC models used in the industry. Agile Models, Prototyping Models, and Rapid Application Development are some other related methodologies (RAD).

The project will be developed using rapid application development (RAD). RAD will be considered and used to ensure that the built system has the necessary functionalities to meet the needs of the users. Figure 3 depicts the four stages of RAD. The four phases of RAD contain all of the activities, tasks, and requirements required to design, develop, and implement a system that supports the required requirements in order to complete the desired system functionalities.
