Critically discuss the elements involved in the process of a professional investigation. You should include a critique of both crime prevention models and problem-solving models to identify organisational learning and to inform future strategic planning. You should prepare a report which critically discusses relevant problem-solving and crime prevention models, in the context of professional investigative practice and by avoiding the use of general comments. You should use any relevant criminological and crime prevention theories to illustrate your discussion. You should also consider best practice in terms of investigation and the relevance or otherwise of applying Endeavour Principles in your report. You are required to use academic and authoritative sources to illustrate your arguments, showing both supporting and detracting perspectives, before reaching a conclusion. It is important that you understand that this assignment is designed to test your understanding of the learning outcomes (LO) given below and your submission should demonstrate that understanding.
