LO1 Compare ways in which change impacts on an organisationâs strategy and operations
LO2 Evaluate the influences that drivers of change have on organisational behaviour
Select an organisation of your choice that is currently undergoing major change. This may be a change being made in a department, a section or across the organisation as a whole. Alternatively, you may select a previous change process that you are familiar with and use this as a means of analysing the change retrospectively in trying to understand how change was achieved successfully or was managed poorly.
You are required to compare the impact that large-scale change has had upon the organisationâs strategy and operations. Also evaluate how the change will have affected behaviours within the businesses and, using theory and models, propose measures that could be taken to minimise negative impact on the businesses.

LO3 Determine how barriers to change influence leadership decision making
LO4 Apply a range of leadership approaches to a change initiative
Further to Assignment 1, you are required to write a paper to present in a seminar. The focus of the seminar paper will be to explain barriers to change and the influence it has on the decision making of leaders in the chosen organization. This will include the use of a âforce field analysisâ to analyse the forces influencing change.
Using a variety of change management theories and models (situational leadership, change initiation, Kotterâs 8-Step model, Lewinâs change management model), apply different leadership approaches to dealing with the change identified in your selected organisation.
D1 Draw conclusions and recommendations with valid justifications for planning effectively for change and applying change impact analysis.
P1 Compare different organisational examples where there has been an impact of change on an organisationâs strategy and operations.
M1 Assess the different drivers for change in each of the given examples and the types of organisational change they have affected.
P2 Evaluate the ways in which internal and external drivers of change affect leadership, team and individual behaviours within an organisation.
P3 Evaluate measures that can be taken to minimise negative impacts of change on organisational behaviour.  Â
M2 Critically evaluate the long-term implications of internal and external drivers of change within an organisation.
D2 Make valid decisions and outcomes based on force field analysis in the context of meeting organizational objectives.
P4 Explain different barriers to change and determine how they influence leadership decision-making in a given organisational context.Â
M3 Use force field analysis to analyse both driving and resisting forces to show how they influence decision-making in a given organisational context.    Â
D3 Critically evaluate the effectiveness of leadership approaches and models of change management.
P5 Apply different leadership approaches to dealing with change in a range of organizational contexts. M4 Evaluate the extent to which leadership approaches can deliver organisational change effectively applying appropriate models and frameworks.    Â
