Impact of Globalisation on Operational Management of Businesses

You have been successful in gaining an internship with a consultancy business called Claret and Blue Consultancy Ltd Your line manager is preparing to host a 2-day Global Trade Conference. This is an event where organisations interested in expanding their business into new markets will be seeking information and advice on undertaking business in a global environment. As part of your internship you will assist your line manager in organising and preparing for the event. You have been asked to complete a number of tasks.At the end of the conference your line manager asks you to prepare a magazine article. The purpose of the article is to provide an exposition of the significant issues coming out of the conference and in particular the impact of global factors on business organisations. 

NOTE:The learner must produce a magazine article in an appropriate format for the intended audience. The article must cover the key topics which are listed in the assignment. The learner work must be balanced considering strengths and weaknesses and judging the evidence from the different perspectives, so that it demonstrates the understanding required by the LO.

The work must be balanced considering strengths and weaknesses, opportunities, and threats along with evaluating and judging credible evidence from the different perspectives.  The learner may want to select and use some of the topics covered on the course so far including but not limited to:  the four high-level activities of MNEs, The reason why firms wish to conduct international business, external factors affecting business organisations, the four major risks to internal business, protectionism and government interventions, mitigations to such interventions, global markets and exchange rates, economic integration.

Different operating modes for companies to accomplish their international objectives.  All the above across different contexts, for example, the differences these topics have on different types of companies in different countries.  Note:  The topics outlined above are starting points for the for consideration within the work – they are not representative of the components of the answer and simple explanation of these will not address the question.  Also remember that you need to provide a clearly structured piece of work with credible evidence(credible citations and reference section entries) and logical progression of points and arguments. 

 
To earn a full score a student should cover all the following:

Learners may want to consider taking the following approach:  Consider two or more different types of business within the same country or in different countries that employ different levels of the operating models discussed.Perhaps one firm is more domestically focused, and another is more globally focused, perhaps they are different industries or not. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of different core strategies, operating models, control systems, coordination systems and structure against the four types of major risks to international businesses.  Make an evaluation on which of the two or more companies are exposed to higher level of risk compared to the others in each of these areas that you choose to consider.
