On successful completion of the assignment students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the following Learning Outcome.

LO2 Interpret trends, developments and new initiatives in light of strategy, management concepts and changing international role and responsibilities in the cargo industry. 

Task
Students are to complete a 1500 word document ( report or essay ) 
Task:

Choose TWO of the three questions to answer.
Each will be allocated 50 marks/ allocated approx. 750 words

1.    Analyse and Explain what facilities an effective and efficient cargo terminal should possess.
2.    What do you think the future of the Air Cargo industry will look like. (main players, hubs, tonnage, routes etc)
3.    To what effect will airfreight be challenge by high speed rail freight and what factors will impact this?

You will be expected to include statistics in your work and analysis of such statistics.
It is also expected that you will include diagrams.

A more detailed overview will be given in the assignment overview workshops throughout the term.  

Report format with headings and sub-headings. 
References – will be limited by the nature of this agenda but use if appropriate.  Also please provide information on web-sites used etc.

Exceptional understanding and synthesis. Has presented work clearly and accurately using appropriate personal expression and organisational form. Explains how feedback has helped them identify the strengths in their work. Demonstrates that they have understood where there work can be improved. A - 85%

A very good understanding and ability to make links across modules. Clear strengths identified. Consistent and effective critical reflection. Fluently expressed work effective organisation and structure with a few minor errors B+67% 

Required knowledge and understanding are relevant and of a very good level.  Ability to contextualise and interrelate theoretical concepts is also very good but broad in nature.  Analysis and application are effective and answers are clear, indicating independent thought and reflection.  Overall output is literate, focused and coherent, but arguments are not consistent at the required level all of the times.  A range of very relevant industry examples is used and sources of information are well referenced. Well developed understanding with some ability to link modules effective reflection and very good use of expression and organisational form. B 63%   

Required knowledge and understanding are relevant and of a very good level.  Ability to contextualise and interrelate theoretical concepts is also very good but broad in nature.  Analysis and application are effective and answers are clear, indicating independent thought and reflection.  Overall output is literate, focused and coherent, but arguments are not consistent at the required level all of the times.  A range of very relevant industry examples is used and sources of information are well referenced. Mostly clear understanding with some ability to link across modules. Good reflection clearly expressed work with some minor errors. C+ 57%%    

Required knowledge and understanding are reasonable, awareness of relevant theoretical concepts is indicated, but ability to interrelate is restricted.  Analysis is limited and application superficial.  Overall output is characterised by assertion rather than valid arguments and grammar/spelling occasionally lapses.  A range of fairly relevant industry examples is used and sources of information are fairly well referenced. Good descriptive understanding shown with some ability to link across modules. Coherent reflection and organisation of work. Minor errors. Clearly expressed C 53%    

Required knowledge and understanding are reasonable, awareness of relevant theoretical concepts is indicated, but ability to interrelate is restricted.  Analysis is limited and application superficial.  Overall output is characterised by assertion rather than valid arguments and grammar/spelling occasionally lapses.  A range of fairly relevant industry examples is used and sources of information are fairly well referenced. Good descriptive understanding shown with limited ability to link between modules. A general ability to reflect and identify strengths and areas for improvement. Errors that affect understanding. Adequate structure with some organisation. 43% 

D     Required knowledge and understanding are limited, as is awareness of relevant theoretical concepts, but with some degree of accuracy.  Analysis and application are superficial, and overall output is characterised by lack of focus and poor grammar/spelling.  Industry examples are used and sources of information are referenced. Some understanding shown but little ability to make links across modules. Limited feedback use and reflection on areas for improvement. Errors which make work difficult to understand. Barely adequate structure inconsistent with organisation. 0-42% 

-Fail    There is no evidence of required knowledge and understanding, appreciation of relevant theoretical concepts is absent, analysis and application are non-existent, work has little accuracy, if any, and overall output is wholly inadequate.  Industry examples are rarely used or lack relevance, and the referencing of source material is poor. Understanding is minimal an no clear links are made between themes or no clear understanding of learning. No effective reflection or understanding of how to improve their work. Structure of work difficult to follow and work has many errors. Presentation lacking. Work may not have been submitted which therefore cannot receive credit.
