This module uses both formative and summative assessment.

Formative Assessment:

The formative aspects will help students understand the fundamentals of Project Management. This will enhance your understanding of the generic approaches in initiation, planning, implementation, and control of the projects in any organisation. More importantly, the project skills and knowledge acquired shall help the students to apply them in different discipline and industry. The formative assessment will help prepare the students for the summative assessment.

Summative Assessment:

This is an individual assignment, and it is designed to give students the expertise to draft and develop a business case for projects. This will enhance 2 the skills of students to understand the feasibility of ideas and business proposal and present with realistic and viable approach to the organisations.

The students are expected to follow an academic approach in researching and presenting their findings. 

1. You are required to come up with a problem statement or business idea of your choice from your organisation or workplace or media or provided case studies by your tutor and prepare a business case with a professional report format.

2. The objective of the business case is to provide a working solution to an identified problem or a business idea or an organisational performance issue related to your organisation or a case study.

3. You will act as a consultant or a Project Manager proposing the solution for approval to a project sponsor.

4. The project sponsor can be an organisation or entity or parties funding your project such as your company or a donor agency or a commercial client if you have a company of your own.

5. You can use your discretion in choosing the type of project to be proposed in the business case and discuss the idea with your seminar tutor
before finalisation.

1: Develop a range of skills covering principles, themes, and specialist management instruments for managing projects.

2: Identify and critically reflect on the differences between a project and business as usual.

3: Understand and evaluate the key purpose and use of project management, techniques, and tools for selecting, planning, executing, and evaluating a project; in view to reflect and enhance core skill components of project management.

4: Develop knowledge of the roles for structuring projects into phases, within the scope of the firm and the project processes in practice.

1: Formulate, evaluate, and reflect on the technical feasibility aspects of project scenarios and processes.

3: Evaluate a variety of practical approaches and performance measures to monitor project progress.

4: Demonstrate and reflect on the process of project evaluation, and the identification of key lessons learnt.  
1: Evaluate how projects can influence teams and work practices.

2: Communicate techniques for selecting, planning, and executing a project, while effectively communicating ways to facilitate practice.

3: Demonstrate the use of resources and specialist management tools for planning and controlling of project in practice.

4: Consider the set of performance measures for controlling and evaluating project performance for enhanced employability skills.
