Understanding Logistics, Procurement, and Supply Chains: A Discussion Board Assignment

Discussion Board Question (DBQ) via NILE site based on required reading consisting x 4 Questions entailing 1 x 200-word (+/- 10%) initial response (or equivalent material, i.e. video upload) and 2 x 100 word (+/- 10%) response to peers per question (total circa 1,600 words across all 4 questions).

Include Information on Deliverables

Series of discussion questions: students (individuals or group) are to comprise a 200 word response to a question posed on the discussion boards, with 2 x 100 word responses.

Requirements and components of the task: each response should be answered with approx. 200 words (mini essay), please include references following Harvard referencing style. Then for each DBQ students are to respond/discuss in 100 words two other students posting, again with relevant referenced materials.

DBQ 1- Supply chain vs. Logistics vs. Procumbent  

To briefly analysis between the differences between the key concepts (supply chain, logistics, and procurement) within the supply chains.

1.Read Chapter 1&2 from the key reading (Lysons and Farrington, 2016) and other books or articles to understand the theoretical foundation.

2.Explain the differences between the key concepts: supply chain, logistics, and procurement; by linking the theoretical foundation with this real-life cases or examples.

3.You could provide a framework (e.g., figure, picture, etc) that include the key concepts as a diagram of supply chains.

2.Explain two types of innovative technology for sustainable supply chain by linking the theoretical foundation with real-life cases.

2.Explain smart procurement to enhance supply chain performance by linking the theoretical foundation with real-life cases.

DBQ deadlines are designed to promote engagement via discussion boards as online workshops in specific weeks (see your discussion board via “assessment information” and Scheme of Work for more details) and to allow opportunities for formative feedback from your peers and tutors. The total of the 4 DBQs will be AS1 and the final submission deadline is on April and formative feedback. Then final summative feedback for AS1 with your grades will be on 5th April 2020. 

This assessment comprises 40% of your overall module grade. It include three parts:

1.DBQs answers: 200 words or video/ DBQ

Clarity with which objectives and purposes are explained.

Coverage of topic; Identification of key issues appropriate use of relevant theory as a tool for diagnosis and understanding of practical Logistics, Procurement and

Application of general principles to real situations;Inclusion of illustrative examples from own, or prefered, industry setting

Conclusions and Recommendations (as appropriate);Logical outcome from the diagnosis and analysis.

Logical and appropriate structure including an introduction and a conclusion; correct Harvard referencing; good standard of grammar, spelling and punctuation.Tables and figures are clearly presented, labelled and relevant.

Students should cite their answers for the DBQs in the text and also provide from 4-10 references. Half of the references cited should be from the last 3 years.
