WSDL Message Exchange Patterns

Each sensor offers its data via a web services interface and pushes data to a client when readings change by more than 10%. The interface is int sensor_reading()

ii. In short sentences, explain the messaging patterns of Out-Only and Robust Out-Only. What is the difference between them? Provide an example scenario for each messaging pattern.

(b) Web Service Fundamentals and SoA

i. Explain the main challenges of SoA. In one paragraph of fewer than 200 words, provide some insight into current developments that are tackling these challenges.

ii. In one paragraph of fewer than 200 words, discuss the application and need for just-in-time integration with examples.

(c) Migrating to SOA.

i. In a short paragraph of fewer than 100 words, list the benefits for companies to adapt legacy systems to a broader SOA based ecosystem.

ii. How to adapt a legacy system to get integration? Please describe an example architecture and the proposed migration strategy in detail.

2. Cloud computing.

(a) SaaS, HaaS, PaaS and STaaS

i. Expand the acronyms. Explain what each acronym entails and provide a list of current providers.

ii. For each of the acronyms, find a real-world use scenario. Please assess each scenario based on aspects like flexibility, security, and expandability. Each scenario should contain less than 150 words.

(b) Consider the following scenario. In the fight against Covid-19, hospitals are gathering more and more data on patients. These data provide insights to clinicians for diagnosis and treatment. These data also allow for research, caseload and resource monitoring, etc. Gathering data from multiple hospitals can also provide a foundation for collaborative research to search for a cure. A data management service is required.”

Decide which type of cloud (private, public, or hybrid) is best suited for this scenario. Critically explore technical and ethical considerations for cloud solutions to the above scenario. Consider aspects like security, privacy, flexibility and the requirement for collaborations. Please keep your answer concise. Multiple paragraphs totalling around.

3. Business Processes.

(a) Describe the message flow of BPEL. Define , and statements in context of a BPEL process. (Word limit of 250 words)

(b) Consider the following scenario.

A school wishes to organize a student excursion at a specific site, at a set date, with an EventPlanner. First, the software will check with the proposed site whether availability exists for the required date – if not, the process ends. If the site is available, multiple activities also need to be planned. The number of participants and the specified site need to be registered with the insurance company, and a professional risk assessor makes a risk assessment of the site.

The risk assessment report must be provided to the insurance company (quoting a site registration number). The site also needs to be registered with the school office. The process will enquire about prices for three organized activities (Swimming, Cannoning, and Hiking), each run by a specialized activity provider. The school selects an activity to its liking, and this is booked. Finally, a confirmation pack is sent to the school, containing a site booking receipt, a copy of the risk assessment report, and an activity booking confirmation.

i. Who are the BPEL partners in this scenario?

ii. Define the methods (and their signatures) that the partners offer. For example, a calculator partner service might offer a method add with the signature int divide.

iii. Depict the scenario as a process diagram that demonstrates the flow of processes and interactions with partners. You can use Visio, PowerPoint, or any other software to produce the diagram. Hand-drawn images are also acceptable, but please ensure readability. The process diagram will be assessed on the existence of key components (e.g. elements, partners), graphical notations and completeness of the process flow for this scenario.
