CIVE30001 Geotechnical Engineering
Task:
Module Learning Outcomes.
1. Demonstrate how theory is used to analyse the behaviour of geotechnical structures under ultimate limit and serviceability limit states.
2. Demonstrate how geotechnical designers use site investigation data
3. Define how groundwater influences geotechnical design.
4. Show insight to the commercial, sustainability and H&S issues relevant to geotechnical design.
Work Required:
In line with your appointment DSM requires you to
1. (10%) Produce a client focused geotechnical scoping report which clarifies the ULS and SLS designs required for each geotechnical structure (including consideration of points 2-5 below)
2. (20%) Define how the anticipated ground conditions may influence design and construction requirements.
3. (25%) Explain potential ground engineering options to solve the identified ground challenges for each geotechnical structure.
4. (25%) Clarify how the ground engineering works discussed in 2/3 (above) may need to be adapted across the site depending on buildability constraints.
5. (20%) Summarise future ground investigation scope to permit decisions on the identified ground engineering requirements.
