Drawing upon a range of academic concepts/theories discussed throughout the module, you are required to prepare a report which critically evaluates and appraises the following in the context of a case study organisation of your choice:
You can draw from your own experience or research an organisation of your choice to develop your evaluation, argument and reflection. You may wish to consider successes, failures, best practices, lessons learned (or otherwise). Be mindful not to merely describe.
– this should be a critical evaluation and demonstrate an understanding of the application of strategic project tools. Consider the relevance and effective use in the project environment, perhaps during periods of high levels of uncertainty such as Covid 19 and how project selection, for example, becomes far more strategically important.
General GuidanceAVOID generalisation and descriptive statements or mere quotations from references/academic source. It is synthesis, critical evaluation and logical reasoning using appropriate academic and peer reviewed research publications that we want for this report and the presentation. Quality and clarity are important.
You MUST demonstrate your ability to build arguments systematically with logical reasoning and critical evaluation. This is MSc level submission which demands significant evidence of synthesis and critical evaluation with specific project and project management-based context and examples must be demonstrated. All arguments, logical reasoning and evaluation must be supported by references from credible/valid/authoritative academic/professional source, e.g., books, e-books, journals (e.g., International Journal of Project Management), white papers, professional institutions magazines/articles, e.g., PMI (Project Management Journal) and APM (Project Magazine) publications, case studies and conference proceedings.
AVOID opinionated views, hearsays, rumours, speculation, stories, tales, TV personalities/celebrities’ views, word of mouth, non-peer-reviewed information and any other non-academic/professional source.
AVOID citing opinions and views from Wikipedia, Blogs, web based Chats, web based forums, web based friendship/collaborative tools or social networking sites, e.g., Facebook, WAYN, Twitter, Linkedln, Friendster etc.
Coursework aim:Demonstrate knowledge and understanding by conducting a critical appraisal of an organisation's project operations using the models, theories and principles of Strategic Project Management and to understand the importance of Strategy, Leadership and Governance to the successful delivery of projects.
