Brewdog, the Scottish brewer, is one of the fastest-growing drink companies in the UK. Founded in 2007 by two school friends, James Watt and Martin Dickie, in Scotland, the alcoholic drink has become a popular choice in many pubs and bars. Its fame transcends the local region and is sold in about 50 bars across the UK and 24 international bars.
The company started in a small industrial unit in Fraserburgh, where the duo, accompanied by their pet dog, made every effort to get the company off the ground. As with most start-ups, the first year was tough, and the business struggled. They often sold their craft beers at farmers’ markets from the back of their van. Nevertheless, the friends did not lose faith. James described their attitude as ‘stupidly ambitious’, and in 2009, Brew dog purchased its first bar in Aberdeen. By 2018, the company had 11 bars in Scotland, 39 in UK and 78 globally.
Despite its success, there have occasionally been a few unfavourable news about Brewdog in the media. In May 2019, the company was accused of stealing market ideas without crediting the contributors or paying for them. In middle of this year, another allegation against the company emerged.
