Online Question Portfolio details (100%) - Summative

Due to the coronavirus, the resit is now an open-book, off-campus version of the planned exam. You will be asked to provide answers to the same questions had the exam gone ahead as originally planned. This can no longer be called an exam and your submitted answers will be referred to as your Portfolio of Module Attainment (PMA).

1.The assessment is open book. You have access to your notes and you will need a calculator.

2.The online question portfolio will be released 1 week before the submission date (3rd August 202)

3.The portfolio follows a simple structure, consisting of 3 sections A, B and C. ALL sections must be attempted.

·Section A consists of 10 multiple choice questions ALL of which must be answered. Multiple choice carry 1 mark each. Answers should be recorded on the multiple choice answer sheet provided. Please put this answer sheet inside your answer booklet at the end of the exam.

·Section B consists of ONE question which must be answered. This question is weighed 40 marks.

·Section C consists of TWO questions BOTH of them must be answered, each question is weighted 25 marks.

Your module mark will be made available to you after the Business School’s exam board. Marks will be made available via the student profile.

How will we support you with your assessment?

The weekly exercises covered in the seminar activities and directed study will provide you with relevant practice of the techniques required in the portfolio.

How your work will be assessed

An instant result of the Moodle quiz will be provided based on the number of multiple choice question you have answered correctly.

The online portfolio will be assessed based on a marking scheme not a rubric. You will answer the questions on a word document (released 1 week before deadline). Feedback will be provided on Turnitin.

Mitigating circumstances/what to do if you cannot submit a piece of work or attend your examination

The University Mitigating Circumstances Policy can be found on the University website - Mitigating Circumstances Policy

Between you submitting your assessment and then receiving your marks, there are a number of quality assurance processes that we go through to ensure that students receive marks which reflects their work. A brief summary is provided below.

·Step One – The exam/test is written by the module convener and reviewed by a second member of the module teaching team. Answers and a detailed exam marking scheme are prepared/reviewed.

·Step Two – For levels 5 and 6, marking scheme are reviewed by an external examiner.

·Step Three – A subject expert will mark your work using the marking scheme (except the online quiz which are computer marked).

·Step Four – The marking will be reviewed by a second subject expert who will check that the marking is fair and consistent across a sample of scripts and that it is in accordance with the agreed marking scheme. This is known as internal moderation.

·Step Five – Work at Levels 5 and 6 then goes to an external examiner who will review a sample of work to confirm that the marking is consistent, fair and appropriate for the level. This is known as external moderation.
