Upon successful completion of this module, students will have demonstrated:
K1: A definitive, critical and comparative understanding of International Human Resource Management strategies, policy and practice across a diverse range of organisational contexts at all levels of the organisation.
K2: A critical understanding of a range of theoretical perspectives used to compare and contrast differences in national and international culture in a range of diverse contexts, and the resulting HR implications.
K3: An appreciation and understanding of the complexity and issues associated with managing staff and organisations in dynamic environments and political changing environments.
Skills:
S1: Effective application of different employment policies, legislation and practices evident in a multinational corporation
S2: An ability to evaluate knowledge, skill and abilities required by an International/global manager pre, during and post assignment.
S3: A cultural sensitivity to difference when organising and managing in cross-border contexts
With reference to appropriate models, theories, frameworks and academic literature, you are required to select two of the following 4 questions and provide answers in the form of a report in not more than 3, 500 words.
Note: The pieces of work are equally weighted at 50% of the overall mark. Note that you should not include any appendices in your finished piece of work.
The work examined is exemplary and provides clear evidence of a complete grasp of the knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the Level of the qualification. There is also unequivocal evidence showing that all the learning outcomes and responsibilities appropriate to that Level are fully satisfied. At this level it is expected that the work will be exemplary in all the categories cited above. It will demonstrate a particularly compelling evaluation, originality, and elegance of argument, interpretation or discourse.
The work examined is excellent and demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the Level of the qualification. There is also excellent evidence showing that all the learning outcomes and responsibilities appropriate to that level are fully satisfied. At this level it is expected that the work will be excellent in the majority of the categories cited above or by demonstrating particularly compelling evaluation and elegance of argument, interpretation or discourse and some evidence of originality.
The work examined is of a high standard and there is evidence of comprehensive knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the Level of the qualification. There is clearly articulated evidence demonstrating that all the learning outcomes and responsibilities appropriate to that level are satisfied. At this level it is expected that the standard of the work will be high in the majority of the categories cited above or by demonstrating particularly compelling evaluation and elegance of argument, interpretation or discourse.
The work examined provides insufficient evidence of the knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the Level of the qualification. The evidence provided shows that some of the learning outcomes and responsibilities appropriate to that Level are satisfied. The work will be weak in some of the indicators.
The work examined is unacceptable and provides little evidence of the knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the Level of the qualification. The evidence shows that few of the learning outcomes and responsibilities appropriate to that Level are satisfied. The work will be weak in several of the indicators. 0-14% The work examined is unacceptable and provides almost no evidence of the knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to the Level of the qualification. The evidence fails to show that any of the learning outcomes and responsibilities appropriate to that Level are satisfied. The work will be weak in the majority or all of the indicators.
