Applying PEST Analysis for a Multinational Manufacturing Firm in the UK

This is a 1,500 word essay on an issue relevant to international business and their management functions. The topic of the assignment has been drawn from the first two lectures and relates to the application of pest analysis to the UK.

You are required to use pest framework to scan the UK market for a multinational firm in manufacturing industry, wishing to set up a business project in the country.  Your task is to conduct research and find time series forecast trends, up to year 2025, for one determinant of each of the 4 pest factors for the analysis.

You will benefit from your endeavor if you choose a manufacturing industry from the Reading List and to consider your choice of determinants early in the course. This will enable you to carry out a good level of analytical research of the UK market and to summarize your findings for both favourable and unfavourable factors.

You should consider those market factors that will affect the future business prospect of the firm and hence the decision as to whether they should set up the business operation in the UK or not. You are strongly advised to begin work early and closely with your PAL Leader and during the first few weeks of the semester to become familiar with good essay writing.  Last year 19 students submitted their assignment late and hence their marks were capped at 40%.

3. Discuss the implication of your findings with respect to the UK market in terms of risk, costs and benefits for setting up a manufacturing base in the UK. (Word limit = 1000 words; weight = 40%).

4. Harvard referencing system within and at the end of text, (b) writing style that includes sentence and paragraph structures, punctuation and page numbering and c) font Arial or Roman Times size 12 with 1.5 line spacing. (Weight = 10%).

For this assignment you need to follow the lecture slides and workshop answers on pestle analysis.
