Question: Learning Outcomes On successful completion of this module a student will be able to: 1. Critically evaluate the roles, characteristics, and impact of team members inthe development of a project team 2. Examine, discuss and apply appropriate evaluation and decision making methodologies 3. Exercise effective personal management skills in relation to the Project Leader's function 4. Reflect upon their learning,performance and achievements, and to develop action plans Brief This module provides the opportunity for students to evaluate the role of the Project Manager regarding human aspects of project management, including team skills and leadership. The requisite attributes and skills for the professional Project Manager will be developed to ensure the effectiveness of individuals and the project team as a whole. You are required to provide the following pieces of assessment based  upon your latest work experiences and the perception of your development in terms of skills learning for improved work performance. Element 1: Work Application of Leadership & Teamwork Theories a. Write a report on leadership styles in organisations and critically discuss your experience of these styles in any group or team you have been part of. b. “The effectiveness of teams is a critical determinant of organisational performance”. Critically evaluate the concepts of team formation, team roles, teamwork and the importance of synergy in project management. Highlight the roles you have played in teams in your latest team/work experience. Element 2: Reflective Learning Log and Action Plan Based Upon Your team/group experiences a. Using Appendix 1, provide a self-assessment of your project management skills. b. Using Appendix 2, provide an action plan for your career development as a project manager, showing how you intend to develop the skills you require. Critical discussion of the concept of leadership Practical discussion of the impact of leadership on your team/work performance Critical discussion of team formation, roles and performance in project management. Practical discussion of your roles in teams/groups Presentation, sources and referencing Deadlines - It is essential that you assist your tutor by complying with submission deadlines so that you can benefit from the generic feedback process. Note that students who submit work within 5 working days after the published submission date without an authorised extension will be awarded a maximum of the minimum pass mark (see H3) for that element of assessment. All work submitted later than 5 days after the published submission date will be awarded a mark of 0% for that element of assessment. Extenuating circumstances - If you are prevented from submitting work for reasons which could not be disclosed prior to the required submission date/time e.g. illness or accident you must use the ‘Extenuating Circumstances’ procedure so that your claim may be dealt with prior to the end of year Assessment Board. Details of the procedure can be found in your Student Handbook and the Students Guide to the Regulations. Pass grades – in order to pass the module you need to obtain a minimum aggregate mark of 50% in the 2 elements of assessment. If you fail the module and subsequently obtain the required 50% mark after reassessment then the maximum mark for the module is 50%
