1. Group presentation (20%).
Choosing one of the projects that suffered from time and cost overrun, you are required to analyze and investigate the real and practical reasons for project problems due to different cultural, economic and technical issues. Since below projects are known very well and already completed, each group can investigate and analyze what was the practical reason of problems and what management had to be applied to avoid or overcome issues occurred.Â

After analysis of project problems throughout the project stages, each group is required to propose the practical and specific management solutions that had to be applied in order to prevent or overcome the project issues. The presentation will be given as a perspective of the project role you choose from below table (Project Manager, Site Manager, Client) and all solutions you propose must be based on real project situation and practices.Â
When analyze the reasons of project problems or propose the management solutions, each group should use at least one of the project management or analysis tools learned in modules (SWOT & PASTLE analysis, Network diagram, Hofstedeâs dimension, Earned value management, Risk matrix).

After analysis of project problems throughout the project stages, individual student is required to propose the practical and specific management solutions that had to be applied in order to prevent or overcome the project issues. The report must be written from the perspective of the project role you choose (Project Manager, Site Manager, Client) and all solutions you propose must be based on real project situation and practices.Â

Individual report 2 (50%) â Application of project management in constructionÂ

You are provided with a project brief (available on Moodle) that outlines the details of a construction project. You are required to submit a comprehensive report on the analysis of time, cost, risk and quality of the project, including a discussion on potential improvement initiatives which can be introduced to the project.Â

The structure of the report should include the following project management components to support your decision-making process in the analysis of time, cost, risk, and other client requirements:Â

1- Project Scope: To include the requirements, Work Breakdown structure (WBS) and scope control discussions
2- Schedule Overview: Scheduling, Milestones, Dependencies and project plan, Schedule monitoring
3- Resource Management and Budget planning : Cost estimation, budget breakdown, cost controlÂ

In support of your analysis, you are required to provide a Work Breakdown structure (WBS), Network Diagram, Critical Path in Gantt Chart, Gantt Chart.
