Social, economic and environmental considerations in project development (40%)-

The Royal Albert Dockland in East of London is being transformed into London’s third business and financial district with about £2billion development programme/project, comprising the construction of office buildings, residential homes, commercial and retails properties, leisure and community space facilities. The existing infrastructure such as public transport, pedestrian and cycle routes will also be improved while new ones developed as part of the development programme. The development programme which is covering an estimated area of about 5 million square feet is expected to regenerate the entire area when completed. In no more than 2500 words, write a report and discuss clearly, the social, economic and environmental sustainability impacts of the development programme/project on the area of East London.

The report should include the following information:

• Introduction and background of the development project.

• The social sustainability benefits and disadvantages of the project.

• The economic sustainability benefits and disadvantages of the project.

• The environmental sustainability benefits and disadvantages of the project.

i) You have been appointed as a team leader in your construction engineering department.
