Comparative Analysis of Healthcare Systems in Two Countries

This component is intended to assess the following outcomes:

1. Discuss fundamental concepts in health economics, e.g. supply and demand, competition and markets, economic evaluation, and distributive justice in health care.
2. Critically examine the different models of health care finance in terms of their sustainability, efficiency and equity.

Assessment details

Select two countries with two different main health and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the main health system funding in that country. How does the concepts of health economic such as

1) Demand for healthcare services for the selected public health disease or issue in both countries. This can be established through presenting the prevalence and (or) the burden of the disease/public health issue selected in both countries.

 

2) The concept of supply should be discussed through the availability of health services to meet the demand for healthcare in both countries.

 
3) Based on the health disease/ issues selected, what is the equity and efficiency of the health services. These include the equal access to health services to address the demand need of population living with the health disease/ issue.

4) How has the different health systems in selected countries been able to fund and distribute resource to contribute to the efficiency of the health system in both countries

 

5) What recommendations can you make to improve health systems in both countries and improve on the selected public health disease/issue outcome.
