CADE 2003 Advanced Mechanical CAD
Students will design an outdoor play structure using SolidWorks weldments features. COVID-19 has forced everyone outside for play and exercise. In this Mini-Design Project, students will design and model and outdoor play structure targeted for either children and or adults. Children’s structures may contain elements such as monkey bars and climbing structures. Structures for adults should contain elements more suited to exercise, such as pull up bars, more... Students may refer to reference websites and photos for inspiration, and may reproduce parts or entire play structures. Be creative and try to come up with your own design.Project Learning Outcomes: (what the student will complete in this phase) At the completion of this project, the student teams will be able to: a) Create SolidWorks part models following best practices identified in this course. b) Utilize weldment techniques to create a SolidWorks part model c) Create SolidWorks assemblies with properly organized file structure, appropriates mates and no material interferences. d) Create a drawing showing main orthogonal views and overall dimensions. 4. Project Deliverables: (what the student will complete) The student will submit one assembly containing one or more parts constructed from weldments. The play structure should include at least 36 structural members. You may create 1, 2 or 3 play structures to achieve this. This project is assumed to be welded in-place, that is no need for bolted assemblies. There must be feet attached such that it may be bolted to playground surface
