Global Marketing Plan Team Group Project
(2 Components: total of 25% of Final Grade)
Project Proposal (5% of Final Grade)
· Teams of 4 members each will be formed. You must form a team by the second class and you must include a name for your group.
· Each team will select a firm (not necessarily a Canadian one). Teams will create a strategic marketing plan for a business. Be careful with “Topic” selection and make sure there are some secondary data for the brand and company for their global expansion.
· The proposal involves developing a global marketing plan (Marketing Budget: First year CAD 90,000- and Second-year CAD 70,000) for a specified product, either a good or a service.
· On week 10, each team will submit a project proposal. Each team proposal (charter) must include an introduction of team members and include the following sections:
o Organization and product that you have selected;
o Why you have selected it and what country you plan to expand into;
o Overall, high-level plan including general objectives (as it applies to the 4 P’s);
o What information resources are available to you for completing this project, e.g., what articles, interviews you can obtain, annual reports, etc. Reporting the availability of information sources is very important.
o Should be approximately 2000 words. Submitted in the form of a Word document, standard essay format (with Title Page, Executive Summary, Body, and Conclusion).
Final Project (20% of Final Grade) Powepoint Slides
· Each student is required to complete a final project in which you investigate aspects of the strategic marketing management of a chosen business, to extend a certain theory and model you learned in class.
· Teams will evaluate the business’s current situation and marketing strategies and develop a relevant, professional, and usable global marketing plan to achieve an identified objective.
· Each team’s final project is to include the following sections:
o Title page/ Table of Contents o Executive Summary (one page, heading and bullet points)
o Current Global Marketing Situation (key questions as summary statement)
o Situation analysis (Internal & External analysis)
o SWOT Analysis
o Objectives and Issues to be addressed
o Global Marketing Strategy (Product, Pricing, Distribution and Communication strategy)
o Budgets
o Recommendation
o References and Exhibits
· During the week 11 class, each team will make a final presentation of 20 minutes (no more than 12 slides).
· The project will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1) quality of data collected,
2) the depth, rigour, and creativity of analysis,
3) the application of relevant course concepts, and
4) Implementation feasibility of the recommendations.
· The project will involve writing a strategic marketing presentation. Any supplemental material, e.g. newsletter, pamphlets, etc. are helpful in adding richness to your project. However, keep in mind that the purpose of this project is to allow you to use the concepts you will learn in this course and apply them to a real-world situation.
· Create a PowerPoint presentation emphasizing the aspects most important to a board of directors. In short, the PowerPoint presentation is a persuasive argument for management to accept the final Global Marketing Plan, NOT a summary of the written plan.
· The project includes two key deliverables – Proposal and Final Global Marketing Plan.
