Production Planning for Festival Site: Choosing between an Empty Field and a Public Square

Considerations for Planning a Festival Site

So we now get the particulars around production and production planning - let’s see what that looks like. Physically and executionally. (not really a word, but let’s roll with it). For this exercise, you’ll need to plan out a site map and a mini-production schedule to outline locations and layouts for a festival.

You can either choose to use an EMPTY FIELD or VAG PUBLIC PLAZA. Samples (of fields & public squares) have been provided on MyBCIT. Those have been done in autoCAD, but feel free to either hand draw (nicely, with rulers, and pen) or use a digital design programme of your choosing.

Things to consider:
* Ingress/Egress
* Road Closures & Security
* Food
* Stage
* Power Set Up
* Vendors
* Stages
* washrooms
* Activities
* And more…

THE FUN

The event is a BRAND NEW, 1-day event that is trying to decide between an empty field and public square. There needs to be accessibility for an all ages, family friendly event that includes music, sponsorship activations (x2: footprint - 1@10x10; 1@20x20), road closures, food trucks, 5 10x10 booths for art vendors; street performers, public access washrooms, seating areas and can hold up to 2500 people safely.

Here’s what you need to do. Use your imagination and this course to create what the site plan will look like. Fun, yes? WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?

• 2-3 Pages (1 page site map, 1-2 pages production schedule)
• Spelling and Grammar always matter. 1% deduction, up to 10% for each spelling / typo / grammar mistake caught.
• Provide in a PDF format.
• Following the naming structure as requested in the first class.
• No extensions. No exceptions, without 48 hours notice or a drs note.
