Media Project: Choosing the Type of Media You're Interested In

Analyzing Examples of Your Chosen Media Type

The idea behind this media project is that you choose a form of media that you like and are interested in. To complete the summative, you will study some examples of that media form and then create that type of media yourself. I know you take some incredible photographs, so I would really suggest photography for you. I will explain the rest of the assignment assuming that you are going to choose photography, but any form of media (music, ad, TV show, film, podcast, etc etc etc) will work. The first half of the media summative is analysing some examples. When we  say conventions, I mean the things that make up that media type - in photography you might be thinking about things like colour, composition, frame, rule of thirds, etc. You should select some examples of photographs you really like that others have taken to complete this step and look at them as models to help you fill out the organizer. I have been calling the organizer your 'Framework.' Your completed organizer is one half of what you will hand in for your summative. The second step is to create that form of media yourself. If you use photography, that means your job would be to go out and take some photographs. Your finished photograph(s) is the second half of what you will hand in for your summative.
