1. WRITE A SALES LETTER FOR THE FOLLOWING SITUATION [WRITE AS LETTER]
SecureHome Alarms, Inc. (548 Crawford Ave. Kamloops, BC, V3C 5H0) is looking to provide alarm systems to residents living in the Southern Interior of BC (Kamloops and surrounding area).
It is a new market for the company (since 1987, the company has been the leading provider in Alberta’s home security market), however, it is a great chance for them to get a foothold in the BC market.
According to telephone interviews, your research team has learned that residents are looking for a reliable, technologically-advanced and cost-effective way to keep their homes and valuables safe and your company has that.
You offer a patented alarm unit complete with Safe Code technology, two battery-operated programmable remote units, three surveillance cameras with a monitor, smartphone app programming with over 50 sensors and a two-year warranty on all parts. Your marketing manager has also suggested that you include links to the website and a bonus incentive for customers that mention a visit to the website and signup to your mailing list (which is sent monthly).
You also want to highlight to potential buyers that it is easy to install, can be paid for on 6, 12 and/or 24 month installment plans and that it is compatible with iOS and Android systems for the low price of $499. Additional alarm boxes for a window or bathroom door (complete with additional sensors) are also available for a lower, introductory offer of $99 for new buyers but you are not sure whether to highlight this in the letter or not. There is also a new report that you can include by reducing theft called the “Canada’s Neighbourhood Crime Report” that your manager has asked you to enclose with the sales letter but you’re not quite sure if it is persuasive information for the buyer.

AS LETTER]:
You and a business partner have just started a social media company in the Kamloops area called, Digital Interior Services (123 McGill Rd. Kamloops, BC, V3T 6H7). As a result, you need to create a sales letter to be sent to potential clients. Both of you have three years of experience in promotions and marketing running social media accounts for large-retail companies such as Pepsi, White Spot and Sport Chek.
Problem?
Your current problem is that you have had a hard time getting new clients because you are new to the area (from Kelowna) and there is some tough competition from a rival company, Online Pursuits (which you have also heard charge much higher fees than anyone in the area). You also have 10k followers and little is known about your success in the online world. What you do?You offer businesses, individuals and organization advice and strategies for using social media to promote their business. For the sales letter, you want to promote all of the things that you company can do for them but make it specific by providing examples of how you use Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest for promotion. (i.e. Twitter for conversation, Facebook for ___________, etc). Give potential clients a list of things that your company can do for them. To promote your new business, you have considered hosting a free evening social event that would allow potential clientele to come by your office, see your work and hear a talk about social media marketing opportunities that you are currently involved with. Mention that an RSVP is mandatory to ensure seating. Compose a sales letter suitable for a direct-mail campaign aimed at local businesses.
