Understanding, Avoiding, and Correcting Plagiarism in Academic Writing

1. Review the assigned textbook readings on plagiarism and read the article “The Globe and Mail’s Plagiarism Problem” published by The Walrus (https://thewalrus.ca/the-globe-and-mailsplagiarism-problem/).
2. Compose a paragraph exploring plagiarism and how it can be corrected and/or avoided. Your paragraph should have: • An example of intentional or unintentional plagiarism (can include an anecdote and/or plagiarized text) of your own creation (not from the readings) • A detailed explanation, connecting your ideas with information from the readings, of why your example is considered an act of plagiarism and how it could be corrected and/or avoided
