Reasons for Women's Disinterest

PURPOSE

The purpose of the assignment is to assess learner’s understanding on issues of career development in an organisation in Malaysia. 

REQUIREMENTS

Despite the increase in the number of women in the workplace, some industries are still predominantly male-oriented especially in the constructions, transportations, and oil and gas industry. 

Based on the above statement, you are required to :

1.Choose ONE organisation either from construction, transportation or oil and gas industry that was once predominantly male-oriented. 

2.Explain reasons why women are discourage from entering the selected organisation or industry. 

3.Discuss in detail what actions had been done by the organisation in order to increase the number of qualified women to hold an important or challenging position in this organisation.  

4.Propose suitable strategies for the selected organisation in dealing with dilemmas faced by women workers in order for them to be treated fairly in this organisation. Give appropriate justification to support your answer.
