Occupational, Safety and Health Coursework Assignment

Students are required to analyse ONE chosen academic journal/research paper from a list of titles provided (to be assigned by the lecturer) and submit a written assignment on the journal analysed. The journal/research paper should be based on Occupational, Safety and Health issues. Students are also required to write in their own words and state their views on relevant occupational, safety & health issues relating to the journal/research paper analysed. Analyse the chosen journal/research paper with the support of appropriate literature, organisational examples and relevant regulations.

  1. Group members: 4-5 members in a group.
  2. Due date: Assignment to be submitted in Week 9, during lecture (16th March 2022)
  3. Journal title will be assigned by the lecturer based on the programmes (Human Resource Management and Logistics Management students) and classes for the semester, to avoid redundancy with the other groups.
  4. Every group will have to update the Weekly Progress Report Form through online consultations with the lecturer, starting from Week 5 for the lecturer’s recording and monitoring during the completion of Coursework 1.
  5. The assignment is to be typed written.
  6. The written assignment should be typed in font 12 Times New Roman, with 1.5 line spacing and the written assignment should be within 12-15 pages (excluding cover page, acknowledgements, table of contents, bibliography and appendices), in Google Docs.
  7. The main journal for the analysis needs to be included in the appendices and reference list.
  8. Other journals are needed as support for referencing for this academic written assignment. Journals within a time frame of 10 and 15 years.
  9. Cover Page – to include the title of the journal, student’s name and index no., submission date and lecturer’s name.
  10. Page numbering to be placed at the centre bottom of the page.
  11. All references to be indicated using TAR UC Harvard Referencing System (minimum 10 references for Group Assessment - ONLY Academic related resources are allowed).
  12. Plagiarism is a serious offence. Please sign and attach the plagiarism statement with your Coursework. A copy of the plagiarism statement should also be included. Plagiarism and copying from the work of other students are strictly prohibited. An assignment that is suspected so will be subjected to further moderation.
  13. A copy of the full Turnitin Report should also be included. A 15% similarity rate is permitted excluding referencing.
  14. The deadline for submission of group assignment is to be strictly adhered to.
  15. For late submission, there will be a reduction of absolute marks from the mark’s score submitted:

Late 1 to 3 days after the deadline of submission: minus 10 marks;

  • Late 4 to 7 days after the deadline of submission: minus 20 marks;
  • Late more than 7 days after the deadline of submission: 0 marks.

Presentation:30-40 minutes online presentation (5-8 minutes per person) and ONE video clip also needs to be created/edited by the group.  (within 3-5 minutes)

1) The group presentation will cover the analysis of the assignment. Present the analysis of the issues concerning the topic chosen with the support of literatures, concepts/theories used or the group’s strong recommendations.

2) Presentation using power point slides, each member of the group is required at least for 5 minutes to cover the scope of the written assignment submitted.

3) The group is also supposed to produce an edited video clip (can be taken and edited from relevant online resources), related to the topic chosen, as a creative element for the introduction or conclusion of the discussed journal.

4) The evaluation will be based on FOUR (4) criteria:

  • Application of Knowledge in the Delivery (20 marks)
  • Visual Aids (10 marks)
  • Video Clip Presentation (15 marks)
  • Creativity (5 marks)

5) A formal dress code is required for this presentation.
