Topic: Annotated Bibliography on sociological factors relevant to diverse whanau & families in Aotearaoa, New Zealand.
An annotated Bibliography is a “clear summary and critical evaluation of each piece that you have read and to state its relationship to your topic” (Mutch, 2013, p. 96).
1. Select one chapter from your textbook, below:
McManus, R., Matthewman, S., Brickell, C. McLennan, G., & Spoonley, P. (2019). Exploring society: Sociology for New Zealand students (4th ed.). Auckland, New Zealand: Auckland University Press.

You can use a range of scholarly articles or chapters (from journals, eJournals, textbooks and books).
3.For each of your four pieces of scholarly literature (250 words) you should:
- Write the full reference (not included in word count)
- Summarise the main points of the article or reading
- Evaluate the reading’s usefulness
- Write a reflection on how the reading can be used in your teaching practice
4. And write a short reflective piece which identifies key ideas from all four sources used in the Annotated Bibliography
- Integrate these to write a short reflective essay which explains what you have learnt about your chosen sociological factor and its effects on Aotearoa New Zealand society (500 words in total)
- Include intext referencing within your written piece, and attach the reference list at the end (not included in the word count)
