Task
Write a short answer to the question below. Your answer should be a maximum of 500 words(excluding references).Your answer should:
• Draw on relevant ideas explored in class and in external resources (including the readingsand video clips recommended by your lecturers).
• Include examples illustrating the influence of knowledge systems in different times, contextsand cultures.
• Include your own personal reflections on what your answer might mean for your disciplineand for you as a scientist. When we refer to ‘your discipline’ we mean the science subject you study (biology, chemistry, geology, etc.). If you take courses in more than one ‘discipline’ you may choose one of these for the purposes of this assessment. (You may choose to reflect on more than one discipline, but your assessment must still adhere to the 500 word limit). When you refer to resources, you should reference them correctly (see https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/library/support/citations-and-referencing/). We would like you to use the APA referencing format, refer to your handout and notes from the Information Literacy
Tutorial.
You may use the first person (I, me, etc.) in this assignment. Pay attention to spelling, grammar and expression. The more clearly you can articulate your point of view, the easier it will be for markers to understand your work and give you the mark you deserve.
Assessment question
1. Reflect on an aspect of your own personal identity that may affect (in positive, negative or complicated ways) how the science work you do in your discipline would be accepted in contemporary Aotearoa New Zealand?
