Guide to Completing ECA Assignment on BCA Green Mark
Answered

Questions

This ECA carries 70% of the course marks and is a compulsory component. It is to be done individually and not collaboratively with other students.

You are to submit the ECA assignment in exactly the same manner as your tutor-marked assignments (TMA), i.e. using Canvas. Submission in any other manner like hardcopy or any other means will not be accepted.

Electronic transmission is not immediate. It is possible that the network traffic may be particularly heavy on the cut-off date and connections to the system cannot be guaranteed.

Hence, you are advised to submit your assignment the day before the cut-off date in order to make sure that the submission is accepted and in good time.

Once you have submitted your ECA assignment, the status is displayed on the computer screen.

You will only receive a successful assignment submission message if you had applied for the e-mail notification option.

Plagiarism and collusion are forms of cheating which is a serious offence and are not acceptable in any form of a student’s work, including this ECA assignment. Your Turnitin report will be examined thoroughly as part of the marking process. You can avoid plagiarism by giving appropriate references when you use some other people’s ideas, words or pictures (including diagrams). Refer to the American Psychological Association (APA) Manual if you need reminding about quoting and referencing. You can avoid collusion by ensuring that your submission is based on your own individual effort.

The electronic submission of your ECA assignment will be screened through a plagiarism detecting software. For more information about plagiarism and cheating, you should refer to the Student Handbook. SUSS takes a tough stance against plagiarism and collusion. Serious cases will normally result in the student being referred to SUSS’s Student Disciplinary Group.

For other cases, significant marking penalties or expulsion from the course will be imposed.

You are required to submit the application of BCA Green Mark for the building elaborated in Annex A before December this year. As the project leader, demonstrate and recommend an appropriate version of BCA Green Mark assessment criteria for the project. (5 marks)

Prior to assessing the building’s current score, deconstruct and explain with the client on the certification process with BCA in order to obtain Green Mark GoldPlus. You may also recommend higher Green Mark certification with a cost benefit analysis. (10 marks)

Appraise and compute the assessment fee (including GST) in your briefing to the management. Include a screen shot of the assessment fee guide from the BCA website that you have made reference to. (10 marks)

Describe and relate to the client the current Green Mark score points based on the preliminary findings. (Refer to Annex A) (20 marks)

Demonstrate and relate your ability to propose detailed breakdown of the targeted Green Mark points scoring of the building. You may include additional points in your proposal as buffer. Note: In your proposal, you are required to estimate the energy savings, replacement of electricity by renewable energy and Energy Efficiency Index based on the monthly electricity consumption (kWh) provided in Annex A. (20 marks)

Appraise and demonstrate the necessary reasons (calculations of energy savings, payback, and carbon reduction) for all categories under the Green Mark framework. (20 marks)

Students are required to produce a recorded video and audio presentation with your face based on the above questions. The recording must not be more than 10 minutes. This is to be submitted together with their ECA. Marks will be awarded based on the followings:
