Scope
TMA01 tests your ability to:
• Describe the fundamental beliefs and practices of the 5 major world religions, namely: Buddhism, Daoism, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity
• Identify the issues surrounding religious beliefs and practices
• Describe the trends and developments of inter-faith dialogues
• Examine religious diversity in the modern world and its social impact
• Compare and contrast religions and integrate this understanding into practical knowledge
• Analyse the value of and challenges facing interfaith dialogue, especially in Singapore
Question (Essay)
Religious Site-Studies:
During this course period, undertake a comparative online study of the local sites of two religions (Christianity and Buddhism). You will need to take virtual tours, study image galleries, and make notes of your observations to produce a meaningful comparison.
Write a report . Your report should include the following information:
(a) Site Description:
For each site, describe your general observation of some of the distinctive features of each religion.
Between the two religions of your choice, compare and contrast 2 features that manifest the integration of religious beliefs and practices.
(b) Reflection:
i. Analyse and explain how the features could be meaningful and significant to believers.
Examine and describe the social impact that the religious sites or practices could have on the neighbourhood.
