Aim of the assignment: The aim of this assignment is to apply the information covered in lectures 1 and 2 about the role of incentives and disincentives to explain at least some of the motivation for a choice in a domain of your life. Instructions for the task: Submit an assignment on the application of incentive motivation to a choice that you have or have had in a situation in your own personal context. Headings should be used to present three parts of the assignment: -Part 1: What is the background to the choice that you are focusing on? Start with somegeneral background about the choice before funnelling to the choice that you are focusing on as well as the personal context associated with that choice. Part 2: Outline the pertinent theory behind incentive motivation. For this assignment, the pertinent theory to be used is operant conditioning, where incentives and disincentives are viewed as anticipated reinforcers or anticipated punishers, respectively. Specifically, define positive and negative reinforcement as well as positive and negative punishment by paraphrasing material from Murphy & Lupfer (2014). - Part 3: Apply the material outlined in part 2 to the choice outlined at the end of part 1.
