GPS1023 Introduction to Applied Psychology

Task:
Introduction to Applied Psychology – Journal Logs

The aim of the Journal Logs assignment is for you to connect the theories that you have learnt in class, and apply it to your own personal day-to-day encounters, and past and present experiences.

For this assignment, you will have to submit a journal logs of at least 400 words each. For each journal log, you will have to pick THREE different psychological theories that are covered in the subject. You should explain the selected psychological theories and provide examples and applications of these theories in your own encounters and life experiences.

Topics of Each Journal Log to Choose From:

Journal Log : Attention, Learning & Conditioning, Memory I & II

Structure of Each Journal Log:

1. Introduction: 2 - 3 sentences to introduce the three theories (and topics of which they are from) that you will be focusing on and why you have chosen them.

2. Description & explanation of each theory: Elaborate on your three chosen theories, their relevance to your life events, and insights you draw from them.

a. You are advised to dedicate a paragraph to each theory. Each paragraph should include: a brief description of theory, the situation/event that you are applying it to (day-today encounters or past and present experiences) and linking the theory to your situation/event (this is most crucial). Use your own examples, personal experiences or observations of people/events around you. You may also include pictures within the journal log if that allows you to better illustrate the example. Avoid using examples from textbook or lectures.

b. You may relate one example/ experience to one specific theory, and hence describe three separate examples for each journal log submission. If you find that you have one experience that you can relate to all three theories, please elaborate on its relevance to each theory separately. The objective is to correctly relate theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios you experience.

3. Short Conclusion: 2 – 3 sentences to summarize personal observations and key takeaways.
