We all are no stranger to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has in recent months changed all the aspects of our life including studying at universities. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID?19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). First identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China, as of 25th September 2020, there are more than 32.1 million cases have been reported across 235
countries, areas or territories with more than 980,031 deaths [1].
Pandemics have rarely taken center stage in the way they have this year with COVID-19.
Vaccines are a key public health measure used to fight infectious diseases like COVID-19.
Vaccination helps provide immunization to individuals, and can be critical for saving a person’s life, especially people from high risk categories. Large scale immunization drives can help reduce the spread of such viruses, a term commonly referred to as “herd immunity”.
As of writing of this coursework, there does not exist any widely accepted COVID-19 vaccination.
In this coursework, we will use a (hypothetical) dataset where a large number of participants (more than 25000) were surveyed and asked their concerns, knowledge about both Covid-19 and Seasonal flu. The survey participants were also asked about their concerns regarding safety and effectiveness of the existing seasonal flu and (future) covid-19 vaccination. Other related demographics information about the participants (their age range, occupation, gender, etc.) was also collected as part of this survey. A better understanding of the participant’s response can help healthcare and government agencies develop better strategies for handling
the current pandemic.
Assume you have been recently recruited in a new role as a Data Scientist in the newly formed UK Government “Covid Response” team. You are now asked by your supervisor to prepare a research report outlining the importance of the dataset and the analysis that can be performed which will then be submitted to the UK Healthcare and Government officials.
