You are the owner/ primary caregiver of the child in this case study. Read this case study carefully and follow the instructions below. CASE STUDY (100pts) Patricia is first-time, single mom to son 20 months old Andres. She works long days at a local restaurant. While she is at work, Andres is sent to your day care center from 6:30- 5:30p.m. Her mom, who lives in the home, used to take care of Andres but recently started working cleaning houses 5 days a week. When Patricia gets home she is exhausted. She tries her best to meet the needs of her son but often seeks help from her mom to take care of Andres. Grandma adores Andres. He is her baby often carrying him. Spanish is the home language with occasional English spoken by mom. Andres just has to point and things are brought to him and/ or given to him. He is spoon fed and takes his water, juice, and milk from the bottle. He cries out or throws things when frustrated. As a first time mother, Patricia sees her son as a happy and healthy boy. She knows her son is smart because he has self-taught himself how to use the tablet which he does on a daily basis. He typically takes his second nap from 6:30-8p.m. During this time, grandma and mom cherish this quiet time for themselves. When he awakes at around 8p.m., mom and Andres spend quality time together while Andres is on his tablet and she is on her cel phone. Andres falls asleep to the tablet and they both call it lights out around midnight every night. Andres has been under your care for one month now. At your daycare Andres has been biting more and more often, practically every day now. He prefers to be carried but will crawl or cruise to his destination at his selective will. Otherwise, he often cries out to be carried. He does not grunt or make any verbal utterances to this date. He has zero language. He is unable to feed himself and shows no interest of trying. He prefers his milk in the bottle over solid food. With two new younger infants in your program, you and your assistant are struggling with keeping the other children bite-free and carrying Andres so often is beginning to take a toll on your back with his growing body. How can you support Andres and his family? You are expected to apply all your learning and reading in this course to support your responses. ADDRESS ALL THESE QUESTIONS IN THIS EXACT ORDER. Use Font style Times Roman, Font size 12. Minimum three to five pages. Double space. APA Format 1. Create a simple start-up conversation/ dialogue with Patricia as you begin to share your concerns for Andres. Two to three sentences minimum. 2. What are your areas of concern? Offer at least one activity/ routine in each area and explain the rationale behind each suggestion.
