Describe the importance of personal responsibility and financial literacy for employment and career mobility.
For this presentation, you will create a PowerPoint with voiceover presentation in which you summarize the importance of personal responsibility and financial literacy for employment and career mobility. Your PowerPoint with voiceover presentation should be a minimum of 7 slides, including your title slide, introduction, content, conclusion, and references. Details on what to include in each slide are included below.
As you are creating your PowerPoint slides and recording your voiceover, try to incorporate ideas from lecture. We learned about financial literacy and its importance. Previously, we learned about things like background checks and credit checks that employers might conduct. These topics are important for this presentation. You should also conduct research and utilize information from two outside sources.
Instructions for recording narrations in PowerPoint is included in the Student Resources area of Blackboard. Make use of brief bullets, illustrations, etc. within your PowerPoint slides and then use your voiceover recording to more fully explain these bullets. Your PowerPoint presentation should be structured as follows:
• Title slide
• Introduction slide that offers an overview of what you will cover and engages your audience
• Body/content slides that address the following prompts:
Explain the sorts of things an employer might look for during a pre-employment background check or credit check. In so doing, indicate what kinds of results would make an employer more or less likely to hire someone.
Summarize how showing personal responsibility and financial literacy skills are related to promotional opportunities and growth within the workplace.
Outline specific steps you will take to ensure that any background or credit check an employer completes about you comes back as clean or positive as possible. In this plan, detail how you would speak to any negatives from a background or credit check during an interview.
• Conclusion slide that summarizes your main points and ideas
• Reference slide in APA style
In creating your PowerPoint with voiceover presentation, keep the following general guidelines in mind:
PowerPoint:
• Slides should be well organized, with font color, size, and style that is easy to read.
• Slides should be in bullet point format, not written in long paragraphs
• Bullet points should highlight main points, which are then explained and expounded upon in the voiceover recording.
• Your voice should be clear and easy to understand.
• You should vary your tone of voice and use pauses effectively to place emphasis on important points.
• Try not to read directly from your slides or from a script. Practice your presentation a couple of times before recording so that you can speak naturally and freely on the topics.
• Avoid non-words and filler words (such as “um,” “uh,” and “you know…”).
• Use formal and professional language.
