For your weekly discussion, the students interact to explore course concepts. I am looking for active engagement in the discussion. Please engage early and often. You are required to post your first contribution before seeing replies by your classmates. Also, note you must post on three different days for full credit. The discussions are graded for Frequency and Quality a noted below. Each week you will participate in ONE graded discussions that are related to our course objectives. These discussions are drawn from our readings, lectures, research, and most important our collective knowledge and experiences. The interactions would be primarily with your classmates. You must be active and engage often to ensure the best learning environment and help achieve the most from the discussions. Frequency is the number of posts and the number of days you post in keeping with the requirements. Students are expected to log into the course and post (respond) in each graded discussion on a minimum of three separate days per week in each graded discussion, beginning no later than Wednesday each week. Quality is the content of the student’s contributions. Frequency/6 points: Frequency is calculated on a “points per day” basis, with up to 2 point per day for each graded discussion. Students cannot earn full points for frequency without meeting the frequency requirements. In addition, students can earn an additional 2 points by making at least one post of the week by the Wednesday deadline. Quality/12 points: Quality points up to the maximum are earned by a combination of the following values- 4 points per high quality post, 2 point per low-medium quality- Post quality is evaluated using the quality measurement criteria below. DeVry uses the Portfolio method. For example, a student may post multiple medium quality posts in one graded discussion and earn full points for quality. To earn full quality points with the fewest number of posts, a minimum of three high quality posts is required in each graded topic. Examples of quality posts include: providing additional information to the discussion; elaborating on previous comments from others; presenting explanations of concepts or methods to help fellow students, presenting reasons for or against a topic in a persuasive fashion, sharing your own personal experiences that relate to the topic, and providing a URL and explanation for an area you researched on the Internet
