Role of research and research question

This assignment aims to help you begin to think about your own research interests and develop a research question. The assignment also forms the foundation for your study throughout the unit, as later assignments require you to analyse articles that relate to your emerging research question, and then to explore possible methodologies in relation to the question.

The role of research: After reading Topics 1 and 2 briefly describe the role of educational research as explored in these readings. At least 2-3 readings referenced in the Learning Guide for Topics 1 and 2 needs to be incorporated in this section. Make sure you write with an appropriate academic style (full sentences, clear structure), with references (APA6th) and appropriate depth of analysis of the readings.

Research question: Briefly explain (i) what interests you as a researcher, and (ii) describe the professional context that has brought you to this area of research. State an emerging research question, to be further developed as you work through this unit. You are not expected to discuss methods in this assignment. Maximum word count: 700.
