ENGR100 Interdisciplinary Engineering Design
Task:
Scenario
An experienced engineers working for EMU Consultancy, is given an engineering task for improving the vintage kerosene oil lamp. The provided lamp does not have any drawing or operation manual.
In a recent new product survey report customer’s needs are summarized as - balletic, easy to control and maintainable, durable, safe for children and comfortable with some modern (21st Century) add on-features to be met. As a result, the improvised product has to undergo a 360-degree transformation. The improvised product should be an optimized version of iron using sophisticated and high-tech state of
the art laboratory and system of manufacturing.
CLO1
Discuss material selection for parts in a finished component, identify the design process from that component, and describe the manufacturing processes necessary to make that part.
CLO2
Describe the systems used to make a component and the systems of manufacturing.
Task 1
Considering an engineer’s role as a consultant of any engineering application of your choice, you should make a report with references of material selection for components in a finished product, identify the design process and manufacturing of the final product.
Task 2
Considering the above scenario, the engineer should make a report with references of material selection for parts in a finished product, identifying the design process and manufacturing system used for the improved product.
