The Canadian raised American writer, commentator and essayist Adam Gopnik wrote the essay Shootings, which is about the mass killing at the Virginia tech (Gopnik). The essay starts with a dramatic situation where the cell phones of the dead students in the Virginia Tech massacre are still ringing and the calls are coming from the parents of the dead students who want to know about their children are still alive or dead. The way, the essay has been started, defines the writer’s point of view and it is about the ongoing gun violence in different states. The gun violence is recurring phenomena that needs a huge attention from governmental as well personal level. The writer presented two different statements about the Virginia Tech gun violence. One is Virginia’s governor Tim Kaine’s statement about the fact and other is the statements regarding the gunman and his psychological illness., people asked about ‘how the shooting had happened’’ is irrelevant according to the Virginia’s governor, though this was obviou quarries. Adam Gopnik thought that Tim Kaine’s logic in the statement is unusual, however strikingly rational and the writer elaborated his statement with number of references that after the death from terrorist attack or lung cancer or car crash is not the time to ask about the methods that could be applied for prevention. However, most of the conversation at the spot was related to the psychological illness of the gunman and the projected violence in the popular culture and media or the alienation (Hemenway).
