Australian Universities Improve Global Rankings
Australian universities have taken the world by surprise with its improved positions in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-15. Eight Australian universities feature in list of top 200 universities. University of Melbourne has been declared the top Australian university securing the 33rd rank overall. It is followed by Australian National University and University of Sydney.

Phil Baty, the editor of the prestigious Times Higher Education publication, expressed his delight over the result. He hailed the Australian education system as “world-class”.
In its 11th annual publication, Times Higher Education focused on 13 core issues of education. It concentrated on teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. On these essential indicators, the Australian universities performed exceptionally well. Other than the University of Melbourne (33rd), Australian National University (45th), University of Sydney (60th), University of Queensland (65th) and Monash University (83rd) also feature in the top 100.
The rankings were based on more than 10,000 responses from 142 countries. The survey continued for two months and the final rankings were published after a careful study of the indicators following a proper statistical methodology.
