Avoid plagiarism and follow guidelines: Take-Home Exam

As per AOU rules and regulations, all students are required to submit their own work and avoid plagiarism. The AOU has implemented sophisticated techniques for plagiarism detection. You must provide all references in case you use another person's work in your answers. You will be penalized for any act of plagiarism as per the AOU's rules and regulations. Important notes:

­To answer the Take-Home Exam, use the answer book available on the LMS. For each question, write the question number and your answers. Don’t include the question’s text.

­ In question 2, you are asked to write a short report using some references such as books or websites.

It is not enough to simply post a reference at the end of the document without explicitly stating which parts of your reference are being used. Proper citation of external sources must be included. Also, quoting should not be used. Large amounts of materials copied into your THE will not be accepted.

This morning, you faced a technical problem during the GT101 activity and you decided to write an email to your tutor complaining about that. Here is the email you initially wrote:

As you were about to hit the “Send” button, you remembered the netiquettes that you have learnt during the course and you decided to write a better email.

In your solution answering this question, you are required to do the following:

1. Mention 2 netiquettes that were not followed in the email in the above picture.
2. Describe the impacts on the 2 netiquettes you mentioned in (1) on the recipient of the email?
3. Mention another 2 general netiquettes for writing emails.
4. Re-write the email again following the netiquettes for writing formal emails. Provide a screenshot of the email. Use the same email address as in the above picture.

Due to Covid-19 lockdown, many people have switched to the increasing use of social media websites and other apps to spend their spare time. Many studies show that excessive social media use can cause unhappiness, dissatisfaction, in addition to increasing the risk of developing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

In this regard, you are asked to do some research on social media, and write a short report that answers the following points:

1. Name some common social media apps used by people around you and the reasons behind their use.
2. Describe the impacts of social media on people’s life (Positives and negatives)?
3. Talk about yourself and describe your experience with using social media: most used social media apps, average time spent on social media daily, alternatives things you do/can do instead of spending time on social media.

You need to start your report with proper introduction that introduces the report topic, aims, important definitions, etc.

At the end, you need to write a conclusion reflecting your own recommendations and advices.

Important notes about your report:

• Start the report in a new page.
• You should use your own words.
• Report writing specifications: Writing style should be formal, appropriate font type, size and format should be used, structure should include title and subtitles.

Your take-home exam document should include (comply with) the following:

• Header containing your name and ID.
• Page numbering.
• No grammar or spelling mistakes
