Report Writing: Background, Research Objectives, and Methodology

Background

Present a report covering the following areas. The suggested word count serves only as a guide. They are not treated as absolute necessity. Include a TITLE (include topic & site of study) for your Report.

a. Background

Include a brief summary of the topic and the rationale for this research. The rationale refers to the reasons why your research needs to be conducted. You can consider explaining the problems that spark your interests in this area or the potential opportunities that you see.

b. Research objectives

Write THREE (3) to FIVE (5) research objectives. Provide a rationale for the objectives.

c. Methodology: Research design, sampling plan and data collection methods

Include the following aspects: research design (exploratory & descriptive), the type of data to be collected (qualitative & quantitative), sampling frame (describe your target population/sample), sampling design (specify the sampling technique and describe how you will reach the participants), sample size (estimated/expected size for each method) and methods of collecting data (focus group/in-depth interview (describe how, when and where it will be conducted) and survey (describe the administration method- mall intercept, telephone interview, mail or online) and explain how, when and where it will be conducted].
