Objective

OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this assignment is to conduct a comparative study to investigate how leadership in TWO (2) educational institutions embraced and managed curriculum change and innovation for the 21st century classroom in line with Education 4.0.

The final research report should be  excluding references. The number of words should be shown at the end of your assignment.

The details of the assignment are provided below:

ASSIGNMENT TASK: Role of Curriculum Leaders in Leading and Managing Curriculum Change and Innovation 

· Select any TWO (2) educational institutions of your choice – e.g. 2 schools or 2 institutions of higher learning (IHL).

· Then identify ONE (1) similar programme offered by both educational institutions that have recently undergone some curriculum change and innovation.

Examples:

- Management of Curriculum Change and Innovation in B.A. Business Management Programme in University A and University B.

- The Implementation of Formative School Based Assessment in School A and School B.

- The Use of ICT solutions in the Teaching and Learning of English in School A and School B.

· Conduct survey /document analysis / interviews with the staff and Heads of the identified programmes.  

· Based on survey /document evidence / interviews conducted with the Leadership Management Team (e.g. programme co-ordinators, senior assistants, deputy deans etc.) and leaders (Principal / Dean) write your research report.

 · You MAY base your report on the following format:

o Aim of the study and brief literature review on leading and managing change by curriculum leaders.

o Research Methodology employed to collect data for the study.

o Brief background on the curriculum change and innovation of the programmes in the TWO (2) selected education institutions (e.g. Curriculum change under KSSR in schools or OBE in IHL).    

o Compare and contrast the role of curriculum leaders and how they managed the curriculum change and innovation between the two educational institutions.

o  Provide a suitable conclusion highlighting the summary of findings, the implications and recommendations (if any).

Assignment Guidelines for Students

1. Conduct a literature review to get a good understanding of the role of leaders in curriculum change and innovation and how they manage curriculum change.

2. Identify any two educational institutions (e.g. Two schools or Two Institutions for Higher Learning - IHL).

3. Choose ONE (1) similar programme offered in the TWO (2) identified educational institutions Example: B.Ed.  (Early Childhood) in University A and University B.

Example:  Curriculum Change in the Teaching, Learning and Assessment of English Language under KSSR in a public school and private school located in Malaysia.

 4. Conduct document analysis to obtain a good understanding of the curriculum change and innovation at the selected educational institutions.

5. Conduct interviews / survey with respondents from the 2 identified institutions. In the survey / interview ask relevant questions to investigate curriculum change and innovation with a focus on the role of curriculum leaders and how they managed the curriculum change.

6. Study the course documents and provide a brief description of the curriculum change and innovation of the programmes in the 2 identified institutions.

7. Based on data collected from surveys / interviews / document analysis, compare and contrast the role and management of the curriculum change by curriculum leaders in the two educational institutions.
