1) Dear Students, Some of you may have chosen change activities that were not in-depth enough in your Assignment 1 (as I discussed with some of you on Sunday) OR some of you may have chosen third party organisations (such as Woolworth or Huawei China). If you have done like this, please make sure that for Assignment 2: • For those of you who did a very simple change ( for example, you wrote about transport schedule change) then you must now choose a more in-depth change activity in your organisation AND give a brief summary of the change in your Assignment 2. This would help you answer the Assignment 2 questions better. • For those of you who chose third party organisations (such as Woolworth or Huawei China), you need to choose an in-depth change activity in YOUR OWN organisation AND give a brief summary of the change in your Assignment 2. This would help you answer the Assignment 2 questions better. We have discussed how to approach Assignment 2 and the relevant chapters that you must read to answer the questions effectively. So please get started on Assignment 2 as soon as possible. All the best! 2) Dear all, this is from Prof. Alison Sheridan on Moodle, please read this in Moodle: Hello - Here's a tip for your next assignment. Polish Your Writing In this assignment, we expect to see good quality writing and expression of your argument. Take note of these tips and tricks to help you: • Use your word processor's spelling and grammar checking function. Make sure all the obvious mistakes are taken care of. • Ask a trusted friend, family member, or fellow student to read over your final draft. Ask them to take a critical eye and give feedback. Make a round of updates after their feedback. • Submit your assignment to Studiosity for free academic review and feedback. o Here's the link: Connect to Studiosity Studiosity has live tutors available 24x7 if you want to ask questions. o You can (and should) submit your draft assignment for writing review. Reviews take 6-12 hours. Make a round of updates after the tutor's feedback. o You can download the Studiosity app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, if you want to access Studiosity via your mobile or tablet. • High quality academic writing is achieved through multiple revisions, editing and rewriting. Expect to spend some hours polishing your assignment from first draft to second draft to third draft, and so on. • Higher scoring assignments will have zero spelling or grammar errors. They will also be well-written in terms of concepts, strength and elegance of arguments, and supplied with good evidence and examples. Lower scoring assignments will have multiple spelling and grammar errors, poor arguments, and lack of evidence and examples. If you have any questions or doubts about writing style, post in the Assignment 2 Moodle forum. 3) Hi students, Please find below the feedback on Assignment 1 from Prof Alison, the Unit Coordinator of MM320 Organisational Development and Change. Please read all the feedback given below. You must make sure you do not repeat the same mistake again for Assignment 2. Please take this very seriously or else you will be failing the unit again. Many students seemed to get caught up describing dialogic pedagogy they are employing in the class, rather than analysing the change. I noted, too that it seems many of the students are still not drawing on the text to explain the concepts they should be applying to the analysis of the change, with many of them bringing in external sources that do not relate to the concepts as we have covered them in MM320. They should be reminded to stay focused on the concepts we cover in the unit.” OVERALL COMMENTS Question 1 Generally the students were able to identify the organisation, the business it is in and the context fairly adequately. However, there were cases of students identifying the general nature of the business but without sufficient details. Question 2 - Errors in this question contributed to a number of fails in Assignment 1. Some of the errors were: *did not specify the workplace change that took place OR *the change was not clarified early in the answer and there is very little information about the change. As such gauging the effect of the internal and external forces on the change is difficult OR *change was identified but lacked sufficient depth or details *explained several changes that took place but each was superficially addressed and the corresponding internal and external triggers were not adequately related to the change/s identified *answers that spent more effort in describing the change but not so much on linking the triggers and the change activity. *little or no mention of the internal/ external triggers that may have prompted the change. *provided a SWOT analysis Question 3. Some of the errors were: *answers that highlights the changes that the company has gone through but does not refer to a specific change through which the language/conversations surrounding the change can be examined. *some answers explain about dialogic teaching instead of what was required *answer discusses the concept of conversations but does not relate to the relevant concepts learned in this unit – a generic answer. *there is a lack of use of terminology from the unit / subject-related content to discuss answers Question 4. General performance *Some students answered quite well – the internal change agents and their roles were clearly identified and explained *Some gave a brief discussion on the concept of internal/external change agents but did not relate to the workplace change discussed in earlier questions Other Issues *The use of Third-party Organisations Some students unfortunately chose an organisation of which they are not a part of in doing this assignment. While some were able to provide a reasonable explanation of the change, they were unable to reflect on the language/conversations that took place during the change. The overall grade for students who chose such an organisation was an ‘N’ as they are not privy to the language and conversations in the organisation and would not have adequate knowledge of the internal agents and their roles.” Thank you. above is the message from my profesor
