Case Study on Logistics and Supply Chain Management

The aims to teach students to identify and address supply chain and logistics management problems prevalent in industry.Students are required to work on a case study independently to evaluate and critique logistics and supply chain understanding containing a description and a literature review around the chosen topic and organisation.

The report should be a description of the fundamental concepts surrounding the topic of interest in regards to supply chain and logistics management. Conduct a literature research around your chosen topic and organisation from credible sources such as journal articles, textbooks, company websites, document the findings (including references), and analyse your chosen organisation thoroughly within the scope of the study.

In this case study for assessment two students are required to work on a real world supply chain and logistics related problem. Based on the selected problem instance, you are to accomplish the following tasks in the order given below.

The report must be according to the prescribed template, and should contain the following elements in order:

Identify and frame a research question based on the supply chain (SC) and logistics (LG) problem you have considered in the organisation of your choice.

State a summary of the report. It should include: purpose, background, main findings, conclusions and recommendations.

Introduce the problem and elaborate its scope clearly in the industrial and organisational context.

Within the scope of the study, define and illustrate three (3) significant phases involved in the supply chain. Identify and analyse appropriate performance measure driver for each supply chain phase.

Within the scope of the study, present appropriate instances of internal and external integration. Also, evaluate these integration aspects thoroughly. The content should be succinct and well articulated.

Create a Value Stream Map (VSM) capturing three (3) significant supply chain stages and analyse value creation aspects across different VSM components.

7 Conclusion 

The conclusion should integrate the study objective with the report findings and provide recommendations appropriately.

Reference the literature from credible sources. Provide in-text citations and reference list using APA 6 th edition referencing style.

1 All the above mentioned tasks should begin from a new page except the research question and the executive summary which can be placed on the same page in the above stated order.

2 Strictly follow the prescribed page limit for each section of the report. Failure to do so may result in a penalty. For details, refer to assessment template and the marking rubric.

3 The case study report should be professionally edited using the prescribed guidelines presented under the report writing guidelines sections of the document.

4 Present appropriate content in the context of your study in the report and do not use vague references.

5 Data can be collected from the internet or can be generated on your own, however, it must be reasonable. In either case appropriate reference or justification/rationale must be provided for acquiring data.
