Your Assignment 3 Assessment Brief: Individual assignment – produce a critical analysis of leader in a crisis situation with potentially profound outcomes. 1. Apply appropriate theoretical perspectives, models and dynamics of leadership 2. Critically evaluate leadership styles and approaches based on a conceptual understanding of leadership perspectives and theoretical frameworks. 3. Critically reflect on personal attributes relevant to leadership 4. Demonstrate effective positive leadership skills and decision-making techniques in group, individual and practical settings. 5. Critically reflect upon ethical dimensions of leadership and multi-cultural perspectives including leadership in Maori, Pasifika and Asian cultures Form: This can be presented as an essay or in report format We are living in complex times and leadership is critical. Chose a leader who has a responsibility for the care, safety and well-being of others in a time of crisis and critically assess their success, or otherwise, under the following headings: 1.Outline the issue. 2.Your leader’s understanding of the issue in question. 3.How their choices are determined by extant circumstances/the situation they are in. 4.What leadership theories they choose to use and the levels of success they achieve (ensure you reference your choices). 5.Evidence of these theories in practice (again, reference) 6.The ethical and moral environment. 7.Their capacity to build teams (include theoretical basis) 8.The behavioural tools/personality traits they use in their team building. 9.Evidence of leadership focused, issue-based strategic planning eg mode of communication. 10.Communication tools and skills 11.Assess and analyse the overall effect of the choices made (leadership tools - status, situation, etc – personality, communication, team building etc)
