Developing a Research Proposal on Healthcare Practice in Aotearoa/New Zealand
Answered

Task 1: Developing a Focused Research Question and Discussing Its Rationale

Identify an area of healthcare practice of relevance and interest to your speciality area of study which requires further exploration, and develop a focused research question that will be used to construct a proposal for an investigation of this topic.

The research question must relate to an area of practice within the Aotearoa/New Zealand health context. You will have an opportunity to discuss a topic of interest and to develop an appropriate research topic in class, where it must be checked by the lecturer before the proposal is developed.

Once a topic has been confirmed, develop a research proposal that will address how you plan to investigate your research question using the framework provided, as shown in Appendix II, page 25.

This task will be completed in stages, which are detailed below. Proposal Development: The proposal will be developed and submitted in THREE instalments.

Each instalment is to be uploaded to a Moodle Dropbox provided.

Develop and state a research question/aim for your study. This will guide the topic area you will investigate for your literature review in Part 2 and provide direction for your research proposal in Part 3 of this assessment. Provide a focused statement for your research question/aim.

Describe your research question/aim by outlining the issue of concern and discuss rationale for investigating this concern. Use scholarly literature to support your rationale and add a reference list.

Develop your background and literature review and highlight the research gap. The background should provide an overview of the significance of the issue being investigated.

Identify and analyse relevant scholarly literature to critically examine and discuss what is currently known about the topic and highlight a current gap in understanding that may inform your proposed study. Use scholarly literature and add a reference list of the resources used.
