Background to this assessment
You have identified a health related quality improvement initiative, and have been invited to present your plan for this in the form of a PowerPoint presentation to the Executive Management Team’s weekly meeting. Your time allocated is no more than 20 minutes and in that time you need to convince them to approve and fund your chosen quality improvement proposal. To achieve this you must create and write:
Your writing needs to show critical discussion and analysis, not simply descriptive writing. If you have not already done so, please access the information about grading rubrics as well as the information about “writing styles” on the online site.
Please note You must email the course coordinator about your choice of topic before commencing this assessment.
Identify an area in your health environment that requires improvement, and provide a critical analysis of where it presently deviates from the best service that could be offered to improve patient outcomes.
Write a business case that you have formulated for the quality improvement change. This business case will also incorporate a brief outline of financial implications and cost analysis for the improvement initiative.
In the Business Case you will critically discuss issues pertinent in addressing the proposed change, such as (but not confined to) political forces and barriers to better access to health service for consumers, workforce factors, quality and risk management. The business case will also incorporate a brief outline of financial implications and cost analysis for the improvement initiative.
Presentation:
Prepare and present an online PowerPoint presentation with voice-over based on your Business Case.
Time allocation for presentation: 20 minutes
Presentation guidelines have been provided online for you, but in your presentation, you should share the main points of the information in your Business Case – however please do not write the whole Business Case onto the slides.
Provide constructive written feedback to the presentations of other students.
Post your feedback comments in the forum under Assessment 2.
