Discussion on Three Nursing Tenets and their relevance to Nursing in Aotearoa

Advocacy: Definition, supporting theory/research from a New Zealand context, relevance to nursing practice in Aotearoa and future practice

For this assessment you are to discuss three nursing tenets that underpin your nursing practice. Use relevant literature and research to support your claims and link to examples from the care you provided during your IP placement. With reference to nursing in Aotearoa, discuss how these tenets will support your future practice.

Currently  I am doing my placement in older person rehabilitation unit in a hospital . So your example should be match with that situation. I prefer advocacy, caring, respect, partnership, collaboration, compassion and commitment. You can write about any three of these tenets.
In the body paragraph describe or define the first tenet with relevant reference. Then support the above tenet with a nursing theory/ research/ studies. Then explain this tenet how it will help in my future nursing practice as a registered nurse with supporting references. Make sure the supporting theory or the research references from New Zealand context. The tenets should relate to the New Zealand nursing practice. This format should be followed in the remaining body paragraph for the other two tenets. 

 

Please use APA 7th version for references and its should be published after 2015. But there can be a consideration in the publishing year for supporting theory or research.

I have written my introduction. I have briefly introduced you to the three tenets that underpin my practice and explained what I plan to cover in the assignment. 

Now in the body of the assignment I will go through each of my tenets. Let’s assume one of these is working in partnership. I will fully describe this construct and illustrate from my practice example my understanding, the relevance and impact. I will connect this to working as a nurse in Aotearoa. I will also tell the reader how this tenet will support my future practice. I will then move onto the next tenet. At all stages I will make links to literature and research. 

 

In my conclusion I will review what the key points have been throughout my assignment. I will make some statements regarding what knowledge I will take forward into the future as a result of completing this work. I also might re-emphasise why these tenets are important. Remember no new information here, just rewording and generalising what I have already discussed in the body of my assignment and a clear link to the introduction.

This assignment requires you to write a discussion essay. You are presenting three of your underpinning nursing tenets and demonstrating to the reader how these inform, support and relate to your nursing actions. Alongside this, the discussion needs to clearly relate to working as a nurse in Aotearoa. Format As a discussion essay it will have

 1. Introduction: This tells the reader what you will be covering in the work. This usually equates to 10% of the total word count. For this section approximately 200 words. 

2. Body of the assignment The body of your essay should describe your topic (main idea in each paragraph), then define, explain, elaborate and provide evidence (connect to your examples) and literature/research for the reader. This usually equates to 80% of the total word count. For this section approximately 1600 words. 

3. Conclusion: This provides the reader with a summary of what you have covered. Links directly to your introduction. This usually equates to 10% of the total word count. For this section approximately 200 words.

4. Attach the practice examples you draw on to support this assignment in an appendix after conclusion. These examples are to support the description of your practice and not specific client, colleagues, placement or community information. Please ensure to maintain anonymity and confidentiality within these accounts. For this section approximately 1200 words. No need any reference for the appendix paragraph. It should be a realistic examples from the hospital set up to meet each tenets.
